Introduction
Residencies offer creatives dedicated space and resources to incubate experimental ideas that bridge art, culture, science, and technology. Typically working in small groups, residents test and develop concepts intoQubit Incubator develops practical resources and training programs designed to strengthen community capacity. One of our key tools is a conversational resource codesigned with Northern Territory communities to support twoway learning as families navigate changes in their lives and engage with new concepts in the disability space. This transition can be challenging, but it becomes empowering when information is shared in ways that respect and connect diverse world views.
Qubit Incubator gratefully acknowledges the contributions of the many individuals and groups who supported the research and development of this resource. This includes cultural leaders, community members, professionals, and funders whose insights and expertise were invaluable. We extend our sincere thanks to Kids Plus Foundation and Coolamon Creative for their dedicated support over the three years of this project.
Our training offerings continue to grow. We are currently developing workshops for both remote and urban communities that explore how cultural dance can be preserved through creative technologies such as motion capture. These workshops will be delivered by our core collaborator, Harrison Hall (About Harrison Hall – Harrison Hall), bringing together movement, technology, and communityled knowledge preservation.
proofs of concept, supported by Qubit staff and social researcher Dr. Gretchen Ennis, who facilitates reflective practice. Alongside tailored support, residents can engage in theory sessions and workshops, sharing skills with peers and the wider community. Each residency culminates in a public exhibition—often showcasing works in progress—where the emphasis lies on the collaborative process and artistic exploration. Following the exhibition, residents are guided to build on their concepts and pursue funding to fully realise their projects.
